Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Director of Content Strategy and Commissioning to join a company that is at the forefront of shaping the future of global entertainment through captivating audio series. Their platform boasts an impressive community of 80 million listeners, who spend an average of over 150 minutes daily on their platform, resulting in a monthly total streaming of over 4 billion minutes.


As the Director of Content Strategy and Commissioning, you will play a pivotal role in steering the evolution of our content landscape.

Main responsibilities:

   - Collaborate with leadership to define the company's content strategy, goals, and objectives.

   - Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging trends, audience preferences, and the competitive landscape in the media industry.

   - Develop a profound understanding of our target audience and customize content strategies to meet their evolving needs.

   - Actively scout and identify potential show concepts that align with the content strategy to drive strong user growth and engagement on the platform.

   - Evaluate show pitches, proposals, and concepts from both internal and external sources.

   - Conduct feasibility assessments to ascertain the viability and potential success of new show ideas.

   - Spearhead the commissioning process for new shows, closely collaborating with creators, producers, and content teams.

   - Work alongside the licensing team to negotiate contracts, budgets, and terms with content partners.

   - Cultivate and maintain a robust content pipeline to engage all user cohorts on the platform.

   - Collaborate with creative, production, marketing, and distribution teams to ensure a unified and integrated approach to content commissioning.

   - Provide clear and concise briefs to creative teams, ensuring alignment with the overall content strategy.

   - Monitor and analyze the performance of commissioned shows, collecting insights to drive continuous improvement.

   - Make data-driven decisions to optimize content offerings based on viewership, engagement, and audience feedback.

   - Lead and mentor a team of content strategists, commissioners, and analysts.

   - Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages creativity and excellence.


Qualifications:


   - +10 years of transformative experience in content strategy, commissioning, or related roles within the media sector.

   - A bachelor's degree in Media Studies, Communications, Business, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).

   - A proven track record of bringing content visions to life, with a portfolio of high-impact shows that challenge conventions.

   - A strong grasp of media trends, audience behavior, and market dynamics.

   - Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to utilize insights for strategic decision-making.

   - Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

   - The ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

   - An advanced degree in Media, Communication, or a field that ignites your creative passion.

This is a full-time opportunity, remote. Salary: $180 - 200K/year.
