CLIENT’S PROJECT MANAGER OR DESIGNEE |
The Materials Clerk verifies material used in the construction of pipelines and facilities comply with plans, contract specifications, codes, and industry standards as well as track shipping and receiving, oversee proper staging and storage, address quality concerns and account for materials used during the assigned construction project. The Materials Clerk works under the direction of the Client’s Project Manager, Materials Manager, or designee.
This position does not require or involve manual labor. The Materials Clerk’s primary duty is to observe and report to client and to carry out project administration and the general business operations of the client in accordance with specific client project requirements with respect to problem solving, interpreting appropriate standards and monitoring the construction activities for regulatory and code compliance, design standards and determining ways in which to do this using their training, expertise, judgment and experience.
Performs duties as designated by the Materials Manager or Client appointed designee, in accordance with the job requirements outlined in the assigned activity. Inspects and oversees materials used in the construction of pipelines, facilities, and other types of construction work. Adheres to procedures and complies with contract specifications, codes, and industry standards. Prioritizes material delivery schedules while coordinating with the construction contractor to verify critical materials have met project needs.
Assists with coordinating schedules and deliveries for material to the construction site. Verifies the accuracy of materials ordered against the material take-off on construction drawings and assists in establishing that materials have been ordered correctly; and that proper material changes have been made according to any drawing revisions. Prepares a list of materials missed, ordered incorrectly or damaged. Communicates matters relating to the procurement of missing materials with Client’s Material Manager.
Tracks materials using bills of materials, purchase orders, drawings, certification records, serial numbers, material test records, heat numbers, packing slips, and other tracking mechanisms. Observes the proper unloading of materials received on site and that materials are stored in a safe non-damaged manner with shelter supplied when necessary. Verifies the correct number and type of undamaged goods are received by comparing delivery to the Bill of Lading. Communicates with common carrier when damaged goods are delivered.
Records and notifies Materials Manager or Chief Inspector of deviations from construction specifications, drawings, permits, and governing regulations.
Perform duties as designated by the client’s project manager in accordance with the job requirements outlined in the assigned activity. Maintain a professional appearance at all times, including attire and grooming, in order to maintain GIFS’s image and increase the effectiveness of your inspection and communication efforts.
