Position Title: Survey Party Chief

Position Description

Primarily responsible for communicating with the Project Manager and/or Field Crew Coordinator and client field representative; Understanding the needs of the project and collecting field survey data required for the project; Supervises field survey personnel.

Essential Functions

• Understands client, project and field survey requirements through communications with the Project Manager and/or Field Crew Coordinator and educates other field associates.
• Supervises Instrument Operators and Survey Aides.

• Compiles notes, sketches, and records of survey data obtained, and work performed and coordinates findings with work of technical personnel, clients, and others concerned with the project.
• Directs work of subordinate members of party, prepares schedules, trains associates, ensures that   field   survey  personnel   has   necessary   equipment   and   supplies   including   personal protection  equipment,  tracks  field  survey  personnel’s  work  hours  and  completes  timesheets, and strives to perform work in a safe and efficient manner.
• When required, completes all necessary accident forms with Administrative group.
• Is the firm’s representative in the field and must possess superior client services skills.
• In conjunction, field survey party, completes daily job safety analysis forms, holds daily tailgate safety meetings, and completes near miss forms and JSA’s as required.
• Monitors weather conditions, determines when conditions are unsafe and directs crew when work must be stopped due to unsafe circumstances.
• Performs all responsibilities in accordance with the Gulf Procedures, and the Health, Safety, and Environment policy, continuously striving toward our corporate goal of no accidents, no harm to people, and no damage to environment.
• Ensures that all equipment is in good working order, schedules routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment, and identifies and reports any equipment failure and turns in for repair.
• Performs additional duties as assigned or expected to ensure that value is being added to all projects by exceeding clients' expectations.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently required to stand, walk long distances while carrying equipment, sometimes through rugged terrain, mud, or swamp; drive and/or ride in a boat; sit; balance, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds; use hands to operate, handle, maneuver and/or manipulate objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; use manual dexterity to operate equipment; talk and hear; Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate electronic distance measuring equipment and other surveying instruments, GPS, all-terrain vehicles, and other equipment necessary to obtain survey data.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
