Position Title: Welding Inspector

Position Description:

 

Welding Inspectors use their judgment and expertise to consult with and counsel welders and other workers onsite in the creation of pipeline welds, and to monitor welder qualifications, weld records and radiographic examinations and make recommendations to the client whether welders are capable of doing their job properly. The Welding Inspector consults and makes recommendations to the client regarding the quality standards, overall integrity, workmanship, and regulatory compliance aspects of pipeline construction projects, considering the unique requirements and circumstances dictated by each project. The Welding Inspector is responsible for communicating the client’s requirements to the welding crews, determining whether the contract is being performed in a suitable manner, consulting with contractors and the client to apply client requirements to specific circumstances in the field and reporting to the client if those requirements are met.

 

Essential Functions:

 

Job duties will vary depending upon the particular circumstances of each individual project and the needs and requirements of the Client, including the Client’s Project Manager. Employee is required to comply with the Client’s operational requirements which vary from project to project. Employee should be prepared and able to perform the following job duties, although the specific duties required for each project will depend on the Employee’s supervisor and the particular needs of each client and project depending upon the location, geographic and weather conditions, and client requirements:

 

·Monitor Weld Crew by Performing the Following:

oMonitor that welders correct or repair deficient welds

oCounsel and advise client’s weld crews so that they understand the applicable specifications

oInstruct and monitor welders in completing welds that meet quality standards and specifications

oConfirm that welders are qualified (including verifying each is listed on qualified welders list)

 

 

EDUCATION:

·High School Diploma or equivalent.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·5+ years of experience in pipeline and related facilities construction activities in the welding field

·3+ years overseeing Welder qualifications, weld records and radiographic examinations

·Basic computer knowledge, i.e., Word, Excel, and email functions

·Current AWS/CWI or CPWI certification

·Current Operator Qualifications

·Superior punctuality, attention to detail and responsiveness to customer and company requests for information
