  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and proactively advise clients on impacts and required actions
  • Collaborate with internal teams and payroll vendors to support integrations, implementations, and tax-related system updates
  • Provide payroll tax guidance during system implementations, organizational transitions, and process changes
  • Handle sensitive tax and employee data with a high level of discretion and professionalism

What You Bring

  • 8+ years of payroll experience with a strong focus on payroll tax compliance and multi-state operations
  • Proven success managing payroll tax registrations, accounts, and compliance across all 50 states
  • Experience supporting clients through PEO offboarding and independent employer tax account setup
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax audits, reconciliations, amendment processes, and agency correspondence
  • Advanced relationship management skills, with the ability to build trust, set clear expectations, and develop strong client partnerships
  • Excellent communication skills, with a commitment to providing timely, clear, and consistent updates to clients and stakeholders
  • Skilled in de-escalation and conflict resolution, with the ability to navigate high-pressure situations and drive issues to resolution
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong investigative problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, client-driven environment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to track, manage, and follow through on complex tax workstreams
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, taking ownership of deliverables and outcomes
  • High level of discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential tax and payroll data
  • Proficiency with payroll systems such as ADP, UKG, Paylocity, or similar platforms
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification strongly preferred
