Job Description
As the Construction Manager, you will lead construction activities for large-scale solar projects in Florida and across the United States. You will leverage a track record in construction management, including large, ground-mount solar installations or comparable energy generation projects.
Responsibilities:
- Working closely with Project Management, the Construction Manager shall oversee and manage the day-to-day construction activities for large scale PV projects within Florida, ensuring adherence to timelines, construction budgets, contractual obligations, regulatory requirements and quality standards.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across functional teams and other stakeholders.
- Lead, guide and supervise construction within the four key PV construction groups of civil, piling, mechanical and electrical
- Manage and coordinate via the procurement team the purchase of construction materials, equipment, selection of subcontractors & supporting contract negotiations as necessary
- Monitor and evaluate construction progress within active sites, identifying and resolving any issues or delays that may arise
- Conducting regular on-site reviews to ensure compliance with:
- Health & Safety regulations, policies and procedures
- Inventory management & receiving procedures including material conformance
- QA/QC inspections & reporting requirements
- Procurement procedures – purchase order and invoice verification
- Ensure accurate documentation status throughout construction and provide daily/weekly/monthly progress reports to management highlighting planned-versus-actual construction performance, risks & opportunities
- Develop and implement construction strategies, policies, and procedures to optimize efficiency and productivity
- Review the closing of each project to ensure the as-built product meets contractual specifications & client expectations
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and technological advancements. For example, supporting initiatives for automation during the construction process
- Tender support and pre-construction – collaborating with sales teams, project managers and engineers through the contracting phase:
- Checking and advising on construction terms within EPC contracts
- Ensuring subcontractors’ scope-of-work and pricing and timelines are clearly defined
- Providing input to direct-labor plans and construction schedules - ensuring labor cost estimates and resourcing plans are clearly defined
Requirements:
- Certified General Contractor License (FL) – in good standing
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects from inception to completion
- Familiarity with construction management and project management software tools (e.g. Taskmapper, Procore or Site Mark), MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
- Commitment to implement and maintain the highest on-site health and safety standards and procedures
- Knowledge of relevant construction processes, codes, and regulations relating to solar energy projects
- Work-front planning & resource allocation, subcontractor management
- Construction reporting, quality control
- Collaborative work style – managing interactions with project engineers, project management, subcontractors’ supervisors/forepersons
