Control Systems & OT Security Manager – Oil & Gas

About the Opportunity

Our client is a critical infrastructure operator in the oil and gas sector. They're looking for a hands-on leader to run their real-time control and operational technology (OT) security function.

You'll own the systems that let the organization monitor and control its network around the clock. That includes the people and technology behind supervisory control and telemetry, as well as the cyber defenses that protect them from outside threats. This is a working leadership role: part technical owner, part people manager, and part budget holder. You'll be accountable every day for a control environment that can't afford downtime.

What You'll Do

Own the Control Platform

• Set the roadmap for the real-time monitoring and control platform, and plan, build, test, and roll out upgrades to its software and hardware.
• Oversee the cybersecurity tools, backup systems, and voice/data communications that support field measurement and diagnostics.
• Coordinate programming, deployment, and commissioning of RTUs and PLCs so every installation follows one consistent standard for reliability, safety, and security.
• Keep the central operations environment highly reliable, from the tools operators use daily to the infrastructure behind them.

Set Standards and Protect the Environment

• Define how the OT network is designed, secured, and documented, including writing policies and reviewing and approving new or modified systems.
• Keep documentation current and stay on top of patching and hardware lifecycle management.
• Own disaster recovery and incident response planning so the team knows exactly how to respond to failures or cyberattacks.
• Stay current on the regulatory and business landscape and make sure technical decisions reflect it.

Lead the Team and Manage the Business Side

• Hire, coach, and manage a technical team of programmers, infrastructure engineers, application engineers, and others, and hold regular performance conversations that support their growth.
• Forecast future system needs and bring budget requests, timelines, and project plans to leadership before needs become urgent.
• Track spending against approved operating and capital budgets and flag variances early.
• Build strong relationships with vendors and integrators so control, communications, and security technology is well designed, installed, and supported.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field, plus 7+ years designing and operating SCADA systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Genuine OT security expertise: you understand how industrial control environments are attacked and how to defend them, beyond simply running the software.
• Advanced technical skills, with real depth in the specialized software used in SCADA and control environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and comfort presenting to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
• Solid quantitative skills (ratios, percentages, basic statistical analysis) for budgeting and performance tracking.
