Construction Site Supervisor – Utility-Scale Solar

Location: Houston, TX. The role is office-based, with regular travel to project sites in the Dallas and San Antonio areas.
Relocation: You must live in the Houston area or be willing to relocate there.
Travel: Frequent. On days you aren't at a project site, you'll work from the Houston office.
Assignment Type: This is a long-term (multi-year) contract assignment with a possibility of going perm at any time throughout the assignment.

About the Opportunity
Our client is a global engineering and construction group with decades of experience building major energy and infrastructure projects. Its solar portfolio in Texas is expanding, and it's adding a Construction Site Supervisor to own the mechanical and structural scope of solar PV builds, from foundations and piles through racking, trackers, and module installation.

This role fits someone who can review designs and calculations in the office, then head to the field to check alignment and torque and lead installation crews. Your time will be split between the Houston office and active job sites in North and South Texas.

What You'll Do

• Plan and coordinate mechanical installation on PV sites so work follows the design package, the schedule, and site safety requirements.
• Oversee installation of piles and driven posts, mounting structures, fixed-tilt racking, single-axis trackers, and PV modules.
• Make sure structures and trackers are assembled to manufacturer specifications and project standards.
• Manage mechanical subcontractors and field crews. That means setting daily priorities, checking workmanship, and keeping teams on scope.
• Review mechanical designs, structural calculations, drawings, and specifications, and raise constructability issues early.
• Run site inspections covering alignment, torque verification, structural integrity, and overall installation quality.
• Diagnose mechanical problems in the field and propose corrective actions.
• Support planning and scheduling of mechanical work, and track progress, quality, and milestones. When a schedule or quality risk comes up, bring it to project leadership with a proposed solution.
• Partner with office engineering to improve mechanical designs and construction methods.
• Model a strong safety culture and enforce HSE and quality procedures on site.
• Prepare field reports, punch lists, redlines, and as-built documentation.

What You Bring

• A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• 3–7+ years of experience on solar PV, renewable energy, or comparable industrial construction projects.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, structural systems, and installation methods.
• Direct experience with PV mounting systems, trackers, and structural components.
• Comfort interpreting mechanical drawings, layouts, and technical specifications.
• Experience in both field and office engineering environments.
• Familiarity with applicable structural and installation standards (U.S. codes, ISO, Eurocodes, or equivalent).
• Proven leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel regularly between Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio.
• Fluent English. Spanish or another language is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience on utility-scale solar projects of 100 MW or larger.
• Knowledge of geotechnical conditions and foundation systems, such as piles and driven posts.
• Proficiency with CAD and engineering software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
• An OSHA 30, NEBOSH, or equivalent safety certification.
• Experience managing large field crews and several subcontractors at the same time.
