Job Description

Senior SCADA OASyS Developer

Location: 100% Remote
Employment Type: Multi-year contract assignment
Industry: Energy and Utilities

Position Overview

A client in the regulated energy and utilities sector is seeking multiple experienced SCADA OASyS Developers for multi-year remote contract assignments.

These developers will support the development, enhancement, integration, and long-term reliability of an enterprise gas-control environment. The positions require direct experience with OASyS DNA, now marketed as AVEVA Enterprise SCADA. Relevant experience may also appear under legacy Telvent or Schneider Electric product names.

The developers will collaborate with SCADA engineering, gas control, operations, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and project teams to develop and maintain applications supporting the safe monitoring and control of natural gas pipeline assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, configure, enhance, and support applications within OASyS DNA/AVEVA Enterprise SCADA.
  • Create and modify SCADA displays, database objects, calculations, scripts, reports, alarms, and operator-facing applications.
  • Develop custom functionality and integrations supporting gas transmission, distribution, storage, measurement, and control operations.
  • Configure and maintain real-time data points, equipment models, alarm parameters, security permissions, and application logic.
  • Support interfaces between the SCADA platform and RTUs, PLCs, flow computers, historians, measurement systems, and other operational applications.
  • Troubleshoot application, data, display, communication, and system-performance issues.
  • Analyze existing applications and safely implement enhancements within a production gas-control environment.
  • Participate in SCADA upgrades, migrations, testing, commissioning, and deployment activities.
  • Develop test plans and conduct functional, integration, regression, and user-acceptance testing.
  • Document application designs, configurations, code changes, interfaces, deployment procedures, and troubleshooting processes.
  • Work with controllers, operations personnel, engineers, and business stakeholders to translate operational requirements into dependable SCADA solutions.
  • Follow change-management, cybersecurity, regulatory, and operational-control procedures.
  • Provide production support and assist with critical SCADA incidents when necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Direct, hands-on development experience with at least one of the following:
    • OASyS DNA
    • Telvent OASyS
    • Schneider Electric OASyS
    • AVEVA Enterprise SCADA
  • Experience developing or substantially modifying SCADA applications—not solely operating or monitoring a SCADA system.
  • Experience configuring SCADA databases, displays, alarms, calculations, scripts, interfaces, or custom applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience involving real-time operational data and distributed SCADA environments.
  • Understanding of SCADA architecture, communications, redundancy, failover, and high-availability environments.
  • Experience working with industrial protocols, RTUs, PLCs, flow computers, or other field-control equipment.
  • Ability to interpret operational requirements, control narratives, data-point lists, alarm requirements, and technical specifications.
  • Experience working within formal testing, documentation, deployment, and change-control processes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a fully remote environment.

Strongly Preferred

  • SCADA experience within natural gas distribution, gas transmission, pipeline, storage, midstream, or another regulated utility environment.
  • Experience supporting a 24/7 gas-control or pipeline-control environment.
  • Experience with pipeline operations, including pressure, flow, valves, regulators, compressors, meters, and storage assets.
  • Experience upgrading or migrating from an older OASyS DNA release to AVEVA Enterprise SCADA.
  • Familiarity with historian, measurement, leak-detection, gas-management, nomination, or pipeline-modeling applications.
  • Knowledge of industrial cybersecurity principles and access controls for critical infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed and highly available SCADA systems.
