Electrical Supervisor – Utility-Scale Solar

Location: Houston, TX (office-based, with regular travel to project sites in the Dallas and San Antonio areas)
Relocation: Candidates must live in or be willing to relocate to the Houston area
Travel: Frequent. When not on a project site, you'll report to our Houston office.

About the Opportunity

Our client is an international engineering and construction group with a long history of delivering large-scale energy and infrastructure projects. As its renewable energy portfolio in Texas grows, it's adding an Electrical Engineer / Electrical Supervisor to lead the electrical side of solar PV builds from construction through energization.

This role is a good fit for someone who is comfortable reviewing drawings at a desk and also walking a site to check terminations and lead crews. You'll split your time between the Houston office and active job sites in North and South Texas.

What You'll Do

• Lead and coordinate electrical construction activities on solar PV sites so work matches the design package, schedule, and safety requirements.
• Oversee installation of DC and AC collection systems, including trenching and cable pulls, combiner boxes, inverters, pad-mount transformers, and project substations.
• Direct electrical subcontractors and field crews by setting daily priorities, verifying workmanship, and holding teams accountable to scope.
• Review one-line diagrams, schematics, layouts, and specifications, and flag constructability concerns before they turn into field problems.
• Support installation, testing, and energization of substation equipment such as breakers, switchgear, main power transformers, relay and protection packages, and SCADA/communications tie-ins.
• Track progress, quality, and milestones, and bring schedule or quality risks to project leadership along with recommended fixes.
• Perform and witness inspections, functional testing, and commissioning activities.
• Promote a strong safety culture and enforce HSE and quality procedures on site.
• Work with engineering, procurement, and project management to resolve technical issues quickly.
• Produce field reports, redlines, as-built drawings, and commissioning turnover packages.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• 3–7+ years of experience on solar PV or other renewable energy construction projects.
• Hands-on knowledge of electrical construction methods, installation practices, and design principles.
• Background with medium- and high-voltage substations, protective relaying, and commissioning.
• Ability to read and work from one-lines, three-lines, electrical layouts, and construction drawings.
• Experience working on active construction or industrial job sites.
• Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, and IEC where relevant).
• Proven leadership, organization, and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel regularly between Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio.
• Fluent English; Spanish or another language is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Utility-scale (100 MW+) solar experience.
• Familiarity with SCADA, plant controllers, and performance monitoring platforms.
• Familiarity with ERCOT interconnection and energization requirements.
• OSHA 30, NEBOSH, or equivalent safety certification.
• Experience supervising large field crews and multiple subcontractors at once.
