Position Title: Midstream Project Engineer (Pipeline Focus)
Location: Houston, TX
Overview
A leading operator within the energy infrastructure sector is seeking a Project Engineer to support pipeline-related capital projects. This role is responsible for full lifecycle project delivery, from early planning through execution and closeout, while ensuring alignment with operational priorities, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
This position functions as both a technical lead and project manager, overseeing multiple concurrent initiatives and collaborating across internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop project scopes, schedules, and cost estimates; track performance against established baselines
- Manage day-to-day project activities, maintaining accountability for scope, cost, and schedule
- Lead execution of multiple capital and expense projects (typically sub-$15MM) across midstream operations
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, and construction activities to ensure timely and efficient delivery
- Ensure all designs and field execution align with internal engineering standards, applicable codes, and regulatory requirements
- Identify and mitigate project risks while maintaining budget discipline
- Provide clear and consistent updates on milestones, progress, and challenges to stakeholders
- Maintain accurate and organized project documentation throughout the lifecycle
- Facilitate and document safety and compliance processes, including hazard analyses, management of change, and pre-startup reviews
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, operations, and finance teams to drive project success
- Support continuous improvement efforts within project execution practices
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in project engineering, project management, or similar roles within energy or industrial environments
- Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced setting
- Strong understanding of pipeline systems and field execution environments
- Familiarity with federal pipeline safety regulations (including DOT Parts 192 and 195)
- Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and competing priorities effectively
Preferred Experience
- 10+ years of hands-on experience within oil & gas, midstream, or hydrocarbon processing operations
- Background in pipeline construction, maintenance, or operations, including outdoor field work
- Experience leading or mentoring junior engineers or project team members
