Job Description

Oracle DBA (FLOWCAL) – Remote (Contract / Advisory)

Oil & Gas Industry

An established oil & gas client is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with FLOWCAL expertise to support a targeted assessment and optimization initiative. This is a 100% remote, project-based role focused on evaluating current systems, identifying gaps, and providing actionable recommendations, with ongoing advisory support as needed.

Position Overview

This role is ideal for a senior-level Oracle DBA who can operate independently and provide strategic insight. The initial focus will be conducting a comprehensive gap analysis of the existing Oracle and FLOWCAL environments, followed by delivering clear recommendations to improve performance, reliability, and scalability.

After the assessment phase, the consultant will remain available on an as-needed basis to assist with implementation guidance and ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a full gap analysis of the current Oracle database environment
  • Evaluate existing FLOWCAL system architecture, performance, and data integrity
  • Identify risks, inefficiencies, and areas for optimization
  • Develop and present clear, actionable recommendations
  • Advise on best practices for database performance, security, and scalability
  • Provide guidance on integration between FLOWCAL and upstream/downstream systems
  • Support implementation efforts on an as-needed / advisory basis
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across IT and operations

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA in production environments
  • Hands-on experience with FLOWCAL (strongly preferred)
  • Proven experience conducting system assessments or gap analyses
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Oracle performance tuning and optimization
    • Backup, recovery, and high availability strategies
    • Database security and compliance
  • Experience working in the oil & gas industry (midstream preferred)
  • Ability to work independently in a consultative / advisory capacity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with measurement systems and gas/liquid data management
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and field data integration
  • Prior consulting or project-based engagement experience
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings to non-technical stakeholders

Engagement Details

  • Type: Contract / Consulting (Project-Based)
  • Location: 100% Remote
  • Schedule: Flexible, based on project milestones and ongoing needs
  • Duration: Initial assessment + ongoing advisory support as needed

Why This Role

This isn’t a typical DBA position—it’s a high-impact advisory role where your expertise will directly influence system performance, data integrity, and operational efficiency across critical oil & gas operations.
