We are seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer to support the design, implementation, and optimization of cloud infrastructure within a highly regulated enterprise environment. This role will work closely with infrastructure, security, and application teams to build scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, configure, and manage Azure-based infrastructure, including compute, networking, storage, identity, monitoring, and security-related services
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex Azure infrastructure, security, networking, identity, access, and performance issues
- Build, test, validate, and harden Azure systems to meet enterprise security and operational standards
- Identify cloud infrastructure risks, misconfigurations, vulnerabilities, and security gaps, then support remediation through completion
- Partner with infrastructure, security, application, and operations teams to investigate issues, determine root cause, and drive resolution
- Support cloud security best practices, including identity and access management, threat protection, secure configuration, and compliance controls
- Configure and manage Azure networking components, including virtual networks, network security groups, VPNs, private connectivity, DNS, firewalls, and load balancing concepts
- Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, availability, reliability, and security posture
- Serve as an escalation point for complex Azure/cloud infrastructure issues and support senior-level troubleshooting efforts
- Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating across technical and business teams
- Maintain clear and organized technical documentation for systems, configurations, troubleshooting steps, remediation actions, and operational processes
- Support long-term Azure maturity, cloud adoption, infrastructure improvement, and security-hardening initiatives
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering with a strong focus on Azure environments
- Practical experience with core cloud services (compute, storage, networking, identity)
- Strong troubleshooting and remediation experience within complex enterprise environments
- Experience working in a large organization with formal security, risk, compliance, change-management, and operational processes
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including DNS, firewalls, load balancing, VPNs, routing, and network security controls
- Familiarity with identity and access management concepts, preferably including Azure AD / Microsoft Entra ID
- Experience supporting secure cloud configurations, system hardening, access controls, and cloud risk reduction
- Ability to investigate issues, test solutions, validate fixes, and drive technical resolution
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work across infrastructure, security, application, and leadership teams
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in infrastructure, systems engineering, cloud engineering, or related enterprise technology roles
- Experience working in financial services, banking, insurance, healthcare, or another highly regulated enterprise environment
- Prior experience serving as a senior escalation point, SME, Subject Matter Expert, or Tier 3 cloud/infrastructure engineer
- Experience leading troubleshooting efforts, driving resolution, and working independently with minimal supervision
- Experience mentoring junior engineers or supporting knowledge transfer across technical teams
- Familiarity with vulnerability remediation, cloud security findings, risk reduction, compliance-driven remediation, or secure configuration reviews
- Industry certifications related to Azure cloud platforms, such as AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-500, or similar
- Scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash, or Python
- Experience using Azure monitoring, logging, security, and governance tools
- Understanding of cloud security standards, compliance frameworks, and enterprise security controls
