Estimator – Automation & Control Systems
Location: Central Oregon (Bend / Redmond / Sisters)

An established automation and controls integration firm in Central Oregon is adding an Estimator to support continued project growth. This individual will play a key role in evaluating project opportunities and developing accurate, competitive cost estimates for industrial automation systems.
This position is best suited for someone who understands control systems (PLC, HMI, control panels, instrumentation, etc.) and enjoys working at the intersection of technical review, vendor coordination, and project strategy.
What You’ll Be Doing
Opportunity & Bid Management
- Monitor and identify relevant project opportunities through various bid platforms and industry channels
- Maintain and optimize access to bid databases and tracking tools
- Coordinate with vendors and partners to uncover and route potential opportunities
Estimate & Proposal Development
- Analyze project documents including drawings, specifications, and material lists
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to define labor, materials, and execution approach
- Develop detailed cost estimates for automation systems, including control panels and field devices
- Prepare and support proposal submissions, including RFIs and clarifications
- Participate in internal bid review meetings and go/no-go decision discussions
- Maintain and improve estimating templates, pricing models, and proposal content
Vendor & Internal Coordination
- Interface with suppliers to obtain pricing, lead times, and technical input
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, project management, and leadership teams
- Support ongoing improvements to estimating workflows and tools
Data & Process Optimization
- Track bid activity and outcomes to refine estimating accuracy
- Maintain organized records of proposals, costs, and historical data
- Assist in managing CRM tools and proposal content libraries
- Leverage modern tools (including AI-assisted platforms) to improve proposal efficiency
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based in a structured, professional setting
- Occasional site visits for pre-bid meetings or walkthroughs in industrial environments (PPE required as needed)
Travel
- Approximately 5–10% travel for site visits and pre-bid meetings
- Travel expenses covered, including lodging and per diem when applicable
What They’re Looking For
- Experience estimating or supporting bids for industrial automation or electrical systems
- Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, control panels, and related components
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders across technical and commercial teams
- Experience with estimating tools, CRM systems, or proposal software is a plus
