Senior Network / Firewall Engineer (Palo Alto)
Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
Duration: 8-Month Contract (Strong Potential for Extension)
Overview
A large enterprise organization in the Dallas area is seeking a Senior Network / Firewall Engineer with deep expertise in Palo Alto technologies to support and enhance its enterprise network security infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone who has operated in complex, large-scale environments and can take ownership of firewall design, implementation, and optimization efforts.
You’ll play a key role in securing critical infrastructure, supporting ongoing initiatives, and ensuring high availability across the network environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support Palo Alto firewall solutions across a large enterprise environment
- Manage and optimize network security policies, NAT configurations, and traffic flows
- Perform firewall rule reviews, audits, and clean-up efforts to maintain security posture
- Troubleshoot complex network and security issues across LAN/WAN environments
- Support network segmentation, zero-trust initiatives, and security best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Security, Infrastructure, and Cloud teams
- Assist with incident response and root cause analysis related to network security events
- Maintain documentation for network architecture, configurations, and processes
- Participate in on-call rotation or after-hours support as needed
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in network engineering within large enterprise environments
- Strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls (PAN-OS)
- Solid understanding of:
- Routing & Switching (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, TCP/IP)
- VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL VPN)
- NAT, ACLs, and network segmentation
- Experience working in complex, multi-site environments
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve high-level network and firewall issues
Preferred Qualifications
- CCNA or CCNP certification
- Palo Alto certifications (PCNSE, PCNSA) strongly preferred
- Experience with:
- Panorama (centralized firewall management)
- Cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Network monitoring and logging tools
- Exposure to Zero Trust architectures or advanced security frameworks
