Job Summary:
We are looking for a Cell Performance Engineer with experience in rechargeable battery development that is looking to get in on the ground floor of the next revolution in energy storage. This role is ideal for someone with technical experience in battery solutions. The role requires both in depth data analysis and hands on understanding of next generation battery’s operation, performance, and failure methods.
Responsibilities:
Lead test-related process improvements from development through production.
Perform detailed test data analyses of cells to identify opportunities for product performance improvement.
Owner for experiments designed to improve cell performance, including DOE planning, execution, and analysis.
Become the site expert in interpretation of battery test data.
Work with our Applications group to benchmark critical customer requirements.
Qualifications:
BS in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering or related field with 2+ years battery industry experience in battery chemistry and physics. MS and PhD preferred.
Strong knowledge of battery chemistry and physics is desirable. Experience working with battery testers or related electronics is a plus.
Experience with data analysis software like R, Pandas/Numpy/Scipy, JMP, Tableau, PowerBI, or equivalent.
Experience with use of SQL for database querying.
Demonstrated capability to clearly analyze battery test data and summarize and present meaningful information.
Experience with statistical analysis methods to drive experiment design and conclusions.
Familiarity with SPC, DOE, FMEA and 8D methodologies.
Excellent written and oral communications skills. Can effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues around the world – in California, India, Korea and Malaysia.
