Job Description

A leading global law firm is seeking a Global General Counsel to serve as its principal legal adviser. This newly created role will shape a modern global legal function in support of the firm’s continued international expansion, working closely with senior leadership.

The Global General Counsel will provide strategic legal leadership on partnership governance, sensitive partnership and employment matters, professional liability and malpractice claims, and material litigation, investigations, and regulatory matters. The role also supports strategic initiatives such as acquisitions, office openings, and entry into new jurisdictions, and advises on technology, AI, cybersecurity, and data governance issues. The position partners closely with the firm’s Risk & Compliance function, manages external counsel relationships and legal spend, and may serve as a director of firm-related entities.

Candidates must hold a US legal qualification, with dual qualification in England and Wales an advantage. The firm is looking for significant experience managing cross-border disputes, investigations, and transactions involving legal, financial, or reputational risk, and a strong record of building trusted relationships with boards, partners, regulators, and insurers. Excellent judgment, integrity, and commercial acumen are essential. Compensation is $350,000–$400,000, commensurate with experience.
