Job Description

A law firm is seeking an Assistant Managing Clerk for its Los Angeles office. This is a critical operational role within the firm's U.S. Dispute Resolution practice, extending well beyond basic docketing to include hands-on state and federal court filings, procedural analysis, docket monitoring, and direct attorney support. The Assistant Managing Clerk acts as a trusted procedural partner, ensuring filings are accurate and timely, calculating rule-based deadlines, and proactively managing litigation calendars across jurisdictions. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and reviewing filings for procedural compliance, coordinating complex submissions with court clerks, assisting with attorney court admissions and pro hac vice applications, maintaining a database of attorneys' e-filing credentials, and conducting weekly docket reviews to keep deadlines current.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree and brings 3–5 years of filing and docketing experience from a Managing Clerk's office or similar litigation support environment, including substantial PACER/ECF experience and California state e-filing experience (New York experience a plus). Strong knowledge of California court rules, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines are essential. The role is hybrid, with three days per week in office, and the expected hourly range in California is $50–$58.
