Job Description

The Litigation Secretary in our San Francisco office provides comprehensive administrative support to a team of attorneys. Key responsibilities include preparing, formatting, and proofreading legal documents, pleadings, correspondence, and memoranda. The role involves managing case reports, conflict checks, opening new files, and drafting engagement letters. Additional duties comprise creating tables of contents and authorities, preparing government or closing documents, and organizing depositions, hearings, and meetings by coordinating schedules and logistics. The secretary also handles daily time entries, client billing processes—including reviewing and editing proformas—and maintains both paper and electronic legal files. In support of attorney travel, expense reimbursements, and vendor invoices, the role requires proficiency in court filing, including e-Filing, and Microsoft Office Suite tools.

The position demands excellent attention to detail, a typing speed of at least 60 WPM, and effective communication skills. Candidates should have a minimum of five years' legal secretarial experience in relevant practice areas, with at least two supporting billing attorneys. Flexibility, ability to handle multiple projects, and capacity to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. The role is hourly and qualifies for a generous overtime plan, with a salary range of $96,000 to $132,000 annually.
