Job Description

Centurion Consulting Group is currently seeking a Junior Database Developer to join our team. This is a hands-on position where you’ll work closely with Metrics Analysts, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and senior leadership to design, build, and maintain custom databases that support mission-critical metrics and analysis efforts. You’ll play a key role in transforming complex data from spreadsheets and disparate sources into streamlined, scalable, and accessible database systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain web-based and MS Access databases to support metrics reporting and operational analysis.

  • Collaborate with analysts and SMEs to understand business needs and translate them into effective database solutions.

  • Create and maintain dashboards, reports, charts, and visualizations to support leadership decision-making and Flag-level briefings.

  • Streamline manual data collection efforts to improve accuracy and efficiency across maintenance and personnel systems.

  • Support existing systems and databases, including enhancements to a Microsoft Access database tracking over 750 Sailors in training pipelines (Train to Qualify - T2Q).

  • Participate in regular status meetings with leadership and end users to provide updates and gather feedback.

  • Provide guidance and recommendations on tools, reporting methods, and process improvements to support data-driven initiatives.

  • Within the first 30 days, complete data cleanup and deliver initial reports and database design plans.

  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and deliver periodic performance and task reports.

Initial Project Highlights

  • Preventative Maintenance Availabilities (PMAV): Build databases to track PMS “plus checks” by Maintenance Execution Teams (METs).

  • Operational Availability (Ao) & Material Availability (Am): Design systems to calculate and report availability metrics for shipboard systems.

  • Cannibalization Tracking: Automate and centralize reporting on ship part transfers and 8 o’clock reports.

  • T2Q Database Enhancements: Modify existing Access database, clean historical data, and develop required reports for training personnel tracking.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field OR equivalent military/commercial experience in business and analysis.

  • At least 3 years of experience in business analysis and database development.

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • Microsoft Access

    • SharePoint

    • SQL

    • VBA

    • HTML

    • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Ability to present complex information clearly via visual tools (graphs, charts, tables, PowerPoint).

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Must be a team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, SQL certifications).

  • Experience working in DoD, Navy, or military support environments.

  • Familiarity with PMAV, Ao, Am metrics, and T2Q processes.

Position Details:  

  • Clearance: Current Secret Clearance or ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
