An independent oncology practice in St. George, Utah is seeking a BC/BE Medical Oncologist to join as the second physician in a high-volume, high-earning southern Utah location. This is an excellent opportunity with immediate patient demand, strong operational support, and significant earning potential.

Practice Overview

This independent, physician-led oncology practice operates on a unique “eat what you treat” model that rewards productivity far beyond traditional hospital-employed salary models. The group has historically performed above MGMA benchmarks.

  • Northern Utah (Provo/American Fork/Lehi area): 4 medical oncologists + 5 nurse practitioners across 3 locations
  • Southern Utah (St. George): Currently 1 medical oncologist + 2 nurse practitioners
  • Multiple physician-owned infusion centers (18 chairs in St. George)
  • New infusion center opening in Salem later this year

Position Highlights – St. George

  • Immediate need for a second medical oncologist
  • Solo physician currently covering St. George + limited Mesquite, NV satellite clinic (2 days/month)
  • Robust patient volume (~25 patients/day)
  • 4-day work week standard (typically 8–9am to 4:30pm)
  • Full ancillary support with on-site lab and imaging at most locations
  • Accept outside infusion orders (non-oncology as well)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Expected compensation at median to 75th percentile MGMA
  • High-performing physicians in the group routinely reach 75th–90th percentile MGMA
  • Direct share of professional collections + ancillary revenue through the “eat what you treat” model
  • Additional practice ownership and profit-sharing eligibility
  • In-office dispensing program for oral oncolytics
  • Comprehensive benefits including health insurance, retirement, malpractice, and CME

Why Join This Practice?

  • True physician autonomy in scheduling, patient selection, and drug formulary decisions
  • Ability to accept all payers (key advantage over hospital systems)
  • Strong operational infrastructure with recent improvements in drug purchasing (GPO participation) and workflow standardization
  • Part of a larger independent multi-specialty physician organization
  • Focus on value-based care while maintaining full independence
  • Future growth opportunities including potential clinical research program and practice expansion

St. George, Utah offers stunning red rock scenery, year-round outdoor recreation, excellent schools, and one of the best quality-of-life locations in the Mountain West.

Qualifications

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Medical Oncology (Hematology welcome but not required)
  • Eligible for Utah and Nevada medical licensure
  • Committed to high-quality, patient-centered care

This is a rare opportunity to join a successful independent oncology practice with proven financial performance, immediate patient volume, and outstanding long-term earning potential in a highly desirable location.
