Senior DevOps Engineer - CI/CD Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Location: Remote (U.S. only)
Type: 6–12 Month Contract (Option to Extend or Convert to Full-Time)
About the Role
We’re looking for a CI/CD Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join a Platform Engineering team on a long-term remote contract with the option to convert to full-time.
In this role, you’ll design, implement, and optimize modern CI/CD pipelines that accelerate software delivery, improve reliability, and automate complex release processes. You’ll also collaborate closely with development and operations teams, particularly supporting Java-based applications, to drive continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines to streamline build, test, and deployment workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Java applications into CI/CD environments.
- Implement and enhance automation frameworks that improve efficiency and reliability.
- Troubleshoot pipeline and deployment issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Continuously optimize pipelines for speed, scalability, and best practices.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership and contribute to platform engineering standards.
Must-Have Skills
- Proven experience (8+ years) building and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
- Strong Java development background, including build and integration processes.
- Proficiency with version control (Git) and automation scripting in Bash or Python.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot pipeline issues and improve performance.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across teams.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Dockeror Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, or AWS).
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Ansible.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and its integration into CI/CD workflows.

Remote Role: Work from anywhere in the U.S.
