Job Description:

Day-to-day, you'll work across a variety of client projects building and maintaining CMS-based websites, e-commerce experiences, and digital media. Projects range from fully custom WordPress builds to sites using commercial themes and page builders, so flexibility across tools and approaches is essential. You'll use Figma to collaborate with designers, translate comps into working code, and ensure front-end decisions hold up across browsers, devices, and CMS environments.

Beyond execution, this role has room to grow. You'll contribute to process improvements and help shape front-end standards as part of a team that values quality and craft. The environment is collaborative and agency-paced, and the expectation is that you bring both technical rigor and a genuine eye for design to everything you ship.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain custom and theme-based WordPress sites, including theming, customization, and page builder implementations using Astra, Avada, Beaver Builder, and Elementor
  • Write clean, well-documented code following front-end and WordPress best practices
  • Translate static comps and wireframes from Figma into clean, responsive, production-ready code
  • Create and manage custom post types and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)
  • Build content filters and facets for content-rich websites
  • Implement UI/UX design with attention to usability, visual consistency, and accessibility
  • Apply SEO best practices through semantic HTML structure
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues across browsers, devices, and CMS environments
  • Support front-end customization for Shopify themes
  • Contribute to front-end standards and process improvements
  • Collaborate with designers, UX professionals, and developers across concurrent client projects

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in front-end or WordPress-focused development roles
  • An excellent portfolio demonstrating the skills and experience listed below
  • Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS, and responsive design principles
  • Strong front-end and theming skills with the ability to faithfully reproduce static comps into working code
  • SEO knowledge and application of best practices through semantic HTML structure
  • Exceptional WordPress proficiency including theming, customization, and hands-on experience with commercial themes and builders such as Astra, Avada, Beaver Builder, and Elementor
  • Familiarity with Shopify themes and front-end customization
  • UI/UX design and implementation experience with attention to usability and visual consistency
  • Experience using Figma for UI design, wireframing, and collaboration
  • Creation and management of custom post types and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)
  • Experience creating filters and facets for content-rich websites
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Formal education from a technical school or university is a plus, but proven real-world experience is valued more than credentials

Nice to Have:

  • Custom WordPress plugin development and plugin extension experience
  • Experience with the WordPress REST API
  • Working knowledge of PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, and jQuery
  • Comfort working with front-end frameworks such as Bootstrap and Foundation
  • Experience integrating with third-party platforms and APIs
  • Ability to work with additional stacks or languages beyond the core requirements
    • Familiarity with unit testing, integration testing, and TDD
    • Exposure to agile and waterfall development processes
    • Mobile development and Progressive Web App (PWA) experience
    • Experience with CMS platforms beyond WordPress such as Umbraco, Kentico, or Sitecore
