Job Description

C2’s client, a historical foundation, exists solely to advance the mission of the Wisconsin Historical Society. They steward generous, private support for the benefit of the Society according to donor wishes. The foundation seeks a contract Email Marketing Specialist to take the reins on weekly and promotional email campaigns. Start date:
Week of October 27, 2025
Duration: Contract; at least through the end of the year, with potential to extend
Location: Remote
Compensation: $26-$33/hr. commensurate with experience, W-2 through C2, W-2 through C2
Benefits: All C2 talent working 30+ hours/week for 30 days are eligible for medical, dental, optional vision, life insurance and PTO accrual. 401(k) with match is available after 90 days
Technology: C2 talent are expected to provide their own hardware/software

Responsibilities

  • Build and send weekly e-newsletters and targeted promotional emails using ActiveCampaign
  • Set up templates, insert content/images, handle basic formatting, and ensure emails align with brand/style standards
  • Segment recipient lists and manage automated email campaigns and triggers (you don’t need to be a workflow engineer, but a willingness to dig in and review what’s set up today is needed)
  • Partner with the Foundation to deliver content accurately and efficiently (strategy, outlines, and basic copy are provided)
  • Generate and report on performance analytics after each campaign
  • Use Asana to coordinate campaign tasks and collaborate with a lean, friendly team
  • Jump in on related email and communications tasks as needed

Platforms: 

  • ActiveCampaign, Asana, Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, plus other standard marketing and productivity tools as needed

Qualifications:

Required

  • Demonstrated expertise in email marketing platforms (ActiveCampaign required)
  • Previous experience executing end-to-end email campaigns from setup through analytics and reporting
  • Solid grasp of audience segmentation, list management, and working with automations, even if you’re not building them from scratch
  • Proficient in remote collaboration/workflow tools (Asana preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow brand/design guidelines
  • Clear, proactive communicator; organized and easy to work with
  • Flexible, collaborative mindset (can adapt as team needs evolve)


Nice to have

  • Experience supporting nonprofit organizations or mission-driven teams
  • Familiarity with basic creative/design/editing tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud)
  • Bonus points for curiosity and the wherewithal to investigate and optimize the Foundation’s current email processes
