Job Description
C2 client, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering students across Southeastern Wisconsin through empathy education, seeks a detail-oriented and highly skilled Proofreader to review and refine written content for an upcoming Activity Book and Program Presentation consisting of a large number of slides. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax, along with an eye for consistency and continuity in tone and tense.
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Part-time contract – early August deadline
Location: Remote
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
Benefits: All C2 talent working 30+ hours/week for 30 days are eligible for medical, dental, optional vision, life insurance, 401(k) with match, and PTO accrual
Technology: C2 talent are expected to provide their own hardware/software unless otherwise specified
Responsibilities:
- Proofread and edit written content for grammatical accuracy, punctuation, spelling, and proper syntax
- Ensure consistency of tense, brand voice, and tone across all materials
- Check for logical flow, clarity, and continuity across slides and sections
- Collaborate with the content team to ensure messaging is polished and professional
- Provide timely feedback and revisions within agreed deadlines
Qualifications:
- Exceptional command of grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Strong understanding of tense consistency, continuity, and sentence structure
- Proven experience proofreading presentations or publication-style materials
- High attention to detail and the ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience proofreading educational or activity-based materials
- Proficiency in using tools like Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, or PDF markup tools
- Familiarity with proofreading slides and large-format documents
