Job Description

C2 client, a full-service advertising and marketing agency, does business with a twist. They focus intently on bringing momentum to their clients to positively impact their clients’ top and bottom lines. They are ready to partner with a contract Senior Art Director who has bandwidth during business hours to concept and execute highly strategic creative work in partnership with their Milwaukee-based creative team. This project-based Art Director role is responsible for developing bold, brand-building ideas that push creative boundaries while meeting the nuanced needs of a B2B audience.

This agency immerses themselves in every facet of their clients’ products and business model, serving as a business development partner. They believe it is the combination of carefully crafted strategy and thoughtfully developed creative that leads to award-winning work with undeniable results.

Start date: Impending
Duration: Project-based, ongoing, business hours preferred
Location: Hybrid (Milwaukee office; in-person availability required as needed)
Compensation: $50–$70/hour as a W2 employee of C2
Benefits: All C2 talent working 30+ hours/week for 30 days are eligible for medical, dental, optional vision, life insurance, 401(k) with match, and PTO accrual
Technology: Talent must provide their own hardware/software unless otherwise specified

Job Description:

This is a role for a smart, seasoned creative who thrives on the thrill of a tight brief, a bold idea, and a deadline that doesn’t blink. You’ll join forces with a team that doesn’t just create campaigns—they engineer momentum. Conceptual horsepower is non-negotiable. Beautiful execution is expected. And an ego-free, roll-up-your-sleeves work ethic is the glue that makes it all go.

This is a project-based role, ideal for an Art Director who can integrate quickly, contribute immediately, and leave every project better than they found it.

Responsibilities:

  • Concept and execute smart, breakthrough creative ideas across digital, print, experiential, and integrated campaigns
  • Collaborate closely with writers, strategists, and account teams to ensure alignment between creative and business objectives
  • Translate strategy into visual storytelling that connects emotionally and communicates clearly
  • Present ideas with clarity and confidence—internally and to clients
  • Maintain exceptional design execution across formats and deliverables
  • Manage timelines and priorities in a fast-moving, collaborative environment

Qualifications:

  • Must be a dedicated freelance Art Director who has time during business hours to work with the agency and their clients
  • 7+ years of agency experience, with a proven ability to concept and deliver standout work
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating big-idea thinking, elegant execution, and versatility across media
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator); motion skills a bonus
  • Ability to think strategically and apply conceptual rigor to every assignment
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
  • Comfortable toggling between high-level concepting and pixel-perfect production
  • Thrives in hybrid collaboration and in-person brainstorming with a passionate, talented team
