Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our growing personal injury law firm in Southfield, MI. This role will support attorneys and case staff with administrative and legal tasks while also serving as the first point of contact for clients and visitors. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, and comfortable balancing legal support responsibilities with front desk duties in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys and case managers in personal injury matters
  • Draft, prepare, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and case files
  • Manage case files, including document organization, scanning, and electronic filing
  • Schedule client meetings, depositions, and court dates; maintain attorney calendars
  • Communicate with clients, insurance companies, medical providers, and courts
  • Assist with intake of new clients, including gathering initial case information and documentation
  • Track deadlines and ensure timely follow-up on case activities

Front Desk Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist clients and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and deliveries
  • Maintain a clean and organized reception area
  • Support general office operations and administrative tasks as needed

Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience as a legal assistant, preferably in personal injury or litigation
  • Prior front desk or customer-facing experience strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel); experience with legal case management software is a plus
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional demeanor and strong client service skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with personal injury case processes (intake through settlement)
  • Familiarity with Michigan court filing procedures
  • Experience handling medical records and billing documentation
