Senior Applications Engineer
Location: Auburn Hills, MI
Employment Type: Contract-to-Direct or Direct Hire

Overview:
Our client, a leading automotive technology supplier, is seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to join their team in Auburn Hills, MI. This role will serve as the technical and commercial interface between customers and internal engineering teams, supporting both current business and new opportunities. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of the automotive electronics market, particularly in cables, antennas, speakers, and amplifiers, and will be comfortable navigating complex RFQs, negotiations, and long-term customer strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary customer-facing technical contact for assigned programs and accounts.
  • Manage and support all phases of the RFQ process, including requirements gathering, technical feasibility, and proposal preparation.
  • Lead technical and commercial negotiations with customers, ensuring alignment between customer needs and company capabilities.
  • Support existing business by coordinating with internal engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure successful program delivery.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within current and potential customer bases.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to guide long-term product and business strategy.
  • Provide input on product roadmaps and technology direction based on customer and market feedback.
  • Ensure clear communication between customer teams and internal stakeholders, including engineering, sales, and program management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field (Master’s degree a plus).
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive applications engineering, account management, or technical sales.
  • Proven experience managing customer relationships, RFQs, and commercial negotiations.
  • Strong technical knowledge of cables, antennas, speakers, amplifiers, or related automotive electronic components.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to customer sites and manufacturing locations.
