Who We Are Looking For:
Company is looking for an energetic, organized, experienced Electrical Test Engineer to join our growing team. Slate is a new US Electric Vehicle company transforming the battery electric vehicle space. Our technology is designed to deliver the most reliable and most efficient low cost-of-ownership electric vehicle on the market.

What You Get to Do:
This Electrical Test Engineer will lead Electricals’ triage efforts during build phases (Beta, DV, PV), field vehicle investigations during development (durability, test trips), and test property maintenance. This position will complement the existing software validation team specializing in the system & component diagnostics.

This Engineer will report to the Head of Electrical and responsibilities will be broad in scope and complex requiring creativity, superior initiative, good judgement, and leadership skills. This is a hands-on position that will also require 50% domestic travel. Sites include the assembly plant, marketing events, and test trips.

  • Lead diagnostic of electrical system issues at build events
  • Lead diagnostic of vehicle test properties in the field
  • Coordinate with the Software Validation team on vehicle fleet updates
  • Coordinate with DREs and SVEs on updating and maintaining test properties; PWB, HiL, SiL, Development Vehicles
  • Utilize LEAN Engineering methodologies throughout

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or electronics or computer software engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program
  • 3-5 years relevant experience
  • Hands on / detail oriented
  • Comfortable working with low voltage and high voltage systems
  • Excellent communication Team building and relationship building skills.
  • Specific experience including

o Open and closed loop control systems for sensors, actuators, body controllers, ECUs, etc.
o Low voltage components such as circuit breakers, relays, wiring, etc.
o High voltage components such as DCDC, motor and inverter, battery, and on-board charger, etc.
o CAN-Bus, LIN, and Ethernet communication protocol
o Industry standards such as FMVSSS, NHTSA, DOT, NFPA, SAE, NEC, etc.
o 8D, five whys, and fishbone process to diagnose complex issues
