Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CMM Program Supervisor to oversee the coordination and management of the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programming and operations within a dynamic manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC machining and manufacturing processes, with expertise in CMM programming and quality control. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest levels of accuracy, precision, and product quality through the implementation of CMM systems and processes.ResponsibilityOversee and manage the day-to-day programming of CMM machines to ensure accurate and efficient measurement of parts and components.Create and modify CMM programs for new parts, including determining best practices for measurement methods.Develop measurement routines for complex geometries and ensure compatibility with CAD data.Supervise and train team members in proper CMM programming, operation, and troubleshooting.Work closely with CNC machining teams to develop, monitor, and optimize quality inspection processes for machined parts.Review part designs and collaborate with CNC machinists to ensure that parts are manufacturable and meet quality standards.Utilize knowledge of CNC machining to guide CMM programming and address issues related to tool wear, machine calibration, and dimensional accuracy.Ensure parts are inspected and tested according to established quality standards, specifications, and customer requirements.Analyze inspection data and collaborate with the quality team to implement corrective actions for non-conformance issues.Assist in troubleshooting and resolving measurement discrepancies or production issues that arise.Continuously improve measurement procedures and CMM programming to optimize quality, cycle time, and efficiency.Supervise and guide CMM programmers and quality control technicians.Provide leadership in daily operations, ensuring the team is properly trained in CMM programming, operation, and troubleshooting.Mentor staff, providing on-the-job training and fostering a collaborative work environment.Maintain accurate documentation for all CMM programming, inspections, and quality assurance processes.Prepare reports on inspection results and performance, identifying areas for improvement.Coordinate with management on production schedules, lead times, and quality issues.Liaise with engineering, production, and other departments to support project timelines and customer requirements.Review engineering drawings, CAD files, and specifications to ensure correct measurement techniques and programs are applied.Provide technical expertise on CMM-related matters to internal teams and external customers as needed.Academic/Educational RequirementsAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field preferred.Relevant CMM programming certifications (e.g., Zeiss, Mitutoyo) are a plus.5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong background in CNC machining and CMM programming.Required Skills/ExperienceProven track record of supervising CMM operations, programming, and quality control in a fast-paced production environment.Familiarity with CNC machining processes, tooling, and programming languages (e.g., G-code, M-code).Advanced knowledge of CMM programming software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar).Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and ability to interpret engineering drawings.Proficiency in using measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work effectively in a team environment while managing multiple priorities.Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy under pressure.Ability to work in a fast-paced and continuously evolving manufacturing environment.Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and CAD/CAM systems.Working Conditions40 hours per weekIn office, Production area as required.Monday to FridayPlease note: All schedules and changes to working hours must be approved by the department manager.
