Job Description
This is a machine maintenance role that works alongside other maintenance technicians at various levels including journeymen. Performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on mechanical equipment, utility systems, and facility building repairs. This position trains other maintenance technicians as needed.
Responsibility
- Ensures operation of machinery, mechanical gear boxes, equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, spindle, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, machine prints, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Must perform machine recovery procedures according to machine operations manuals and/or instructions.
- Maintains facilities CNC machinery (CNC turning, dials, and automation systems) to proper working condition.
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
- Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using scales, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
- Fabricates repair parts by using welding equipment.
- Rebuild draw bars, spindles, and gear boxes.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Performs minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment, as needed.
- Performs preventive maintenance procedures on mechanical equipment, pneumatic equipment, and building on a scheduled basis; inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, greases bearings, seals, etc.; repairs or replaces broken parts.
- Completes daily, weekly and monthly PM’s on maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures in Plex.
- May operate a computer which controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems.
- Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Academic/Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Required Skills/Experience
Four to six years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
Three to five years of experience in a CNC manufacturing environment is required.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, both written and verbal.
Basic computer skills (MS Word and Excel)
Intermediate knowledge of CNC machining equipment maintenance including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and small engine systems.
Ability to conduct maintenance repairs and perform preventative maintenance of mechanical equipment and machinery.
