Job Description:
Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Patient Account Representative to join our team in Davie, Florida. The ideal candidate will have experience in responding to inquiries, utilizing payer portals, ensuring timely revenue collection, adjusting transactions for insurance and patient payments, ensure all assigned claims meet clearing house and/or payer processing criteria and mentoring junior staff. This role is crucial in maintaining efficient and accurate patient account management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Respond to Inquiries: - Address and resolve patient and insurance company inquiries via phone, email, or in-person. - Provide clear and accurate information regarding patient accounts, billing, and payment processes.
2. Utilize Payer Portals: - Access and navigate various payer portals to verify patient insurance coverage, claim status, and payment information. - Ensure accurate and up-to-date information is recorded in patient accounts.
3. Ensure Timely Revenue Collection: - Monitor and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable to ensure timely collection of payments. - Implement strategies to reduce delinquent accounts and improve cash flow.
4. Adjust Transactions: - Review and adjust transactions related to insurance and patient payments. - Correct and reprocess claims as necessary to ensure accurate billing and payment posting.
5. Mentor Junior Staff: - Provide guidance and training to junior staff members on best practices in patient account management. - Assist in the development of junior staff skills and knowledge to improve overall team performance.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field preferred. - Minimum of 2 years of experience in patient account management, medical billing, or a related role. - Proficiency in using payer portals and healthcare billing software. - Strong knowledge of insurance processes, payment posting, and revenue cycle management. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Strong organizational and time-management skills. - Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
