Summary:
The role of Area Splicing Manager is responsible for providing professional telecommunications leadership and support; coordinating activities with other departments, vendors, contractors and government agencies; and providing telecommunications knowledge and expertise in support of AmeriCrew's overall mission.
Salary: $80K-120K per year, based on experience
Role and Responsibilities:

Plans, directs, coordinates and reviews the work of all wireline outside plant telecommunications staff; assigns work activities and projects; reviews and evaluates work, methods, processes and procedures; works with staff to identify problems and determine appropriate action plans

Takes responsibility for timely response and prompt resolution of customer trouble tickets through assessing problem and directing needed staff and resources toward the problem and supervising resolution activities

Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures

Develops and maintains network disaster recovery plans and procedures

Selects, trains, develops and evaluates all outside plant telecommunications technicians and administrative staff; provides or coordinates staff training; provides evaluation and coaching of all department employees to improve performance; implements progressive discipline on an as needed basis

Maintains and controls all telecommunications plant materials inventory and equipment

Supervises and monitors the work of vendors, contractors and consultants

Attends and participates in professional association meetings; maintains knowledge and awareness of new trends and developments in the field of IP, Fiber Optic and Internet telecommunications engineering; recommends incorporating new developments into plant operations where appropriate

Writing job descriptions of those hired to support your position

Performs tasks associated with the prepping and splicing of fiber lines

Maintain proper inventory on vehicle based on work assignment

Assemble equipment according to design specifications
- Install/repair fiber lines in trenches and/or pedestals using various hand tools
Qualifications and Education Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent education required 1-3 years' experience as Fiber Splicing Manager or similar experience
- Strong capabilities in analytical problem solving are required

Operating knowledge skills of cable plow, backhoe, front end loader, bucket truck and similar equipment is critical Strong verbal and written communications skills are a requirement FOA Cert a plus and/or Class B/A Operator License

Must have an understanding of basic construction principles

Must have the ability to operate manual and mechanical equipment necessary to complete jobs

Must have or able to obtain knowledge of "safety systems" associated with aerial cable including set-up and emergency procedures

Ability to do math equation and summaries for reporting

This position requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form
- Must be able to drive an automatic transmission up to 21,000 pounds
Additional Notes:
This position may require being on-call. Employee will respond to emergency call between the hours of 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. This position may require weekend work, night work, and/or overnight travel. Position will be primarily field work with occasional office setting
