We are seeking a meticulous and strategic Senior Estimator to join our clients pre-construction team. In this senior-level role, you won't just be "crunching numbers"—you will be a key driver of our project's financial feasibility and competitive edge.
The successful candidate will lead the preparation of complex, high-value cost estimates from the conceptual phase through to final bid submission. You will act as a bridge between design and execution, ensuring that our project plans are both ambitious and grounded in fiscal reality.
Detailed Quantity Take-offs & Pricing: Conduct comprehensive analyses of blueprints, specifications, and technical documents to generate precise labor, material, and equipment requirements.
Strategic Bid Management: Lead the preparation of competitive bid packages, ensuring all project risks are identified and mitigated during the estimation phase.
Vendor & Subcontractor Relations: Source, vet, and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers. You will analyze third-party quotes to ensure they meet project specifications and provide the best value for the client.
Consultative Planning: Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and project owners to provide "Value Engineering" insights—identifying alternative materials or methods that reduce costs without compromising quality.
Post-Bid Analysis: Participate in project hand-off meetings with the operations team and conduct "post-mortem" cost analysis on completed projects to refine future estimating accuracy.
Market Trend Analysis: Maintain an up-to-date understanding of local market conditions, including fluctuating material costs and labor availability, to ensure estimates remain current.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field. Professional designations (e.g., PQS or CEC) are considered a significant asset.
Experience: A minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in construction estimating, with a proven track record.
Software Mastery: Advanced proficiency in industry-standard estimating software (such as WinEst, Timberline, On-Screen Takeoff, or ProEst) and Microsoft Excel.
Analytical Mindset: Exceptional mathematical skills with the ability to foresee potential project "bottlenecks" that could impact the bottom line.
Leadership & Communication: Strong negotiation skills and the ability to present complex financial data to non-technical stakeholders or executive leadership.
Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of local building codes, safety regulations, and bonding/insurance requirements.
