Job Description

Our client, a well-renowned and highly regarded hospitality group is seeking an Accountant to support its continued tradition of operational excellence and award-winning guest experiences. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with financial data, improving processes, and contributing to a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

As the successful candidate, you will play a key role in supporting the full accounting cycle by contributing strong analytical skills, advanced Excel capabilities, and a proactive approach. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Halifax.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, including month-end close, accruals, and journal entries
  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Support year-end financial statement preparation and external audit processes
  • Prepare and review daily labour reports, including follow-up on discrepancies
  • Provide backup support for weekly payroll processing as needed
  • Assist with cash balancing processes and support daily accounting workflows
  • Complete intercompany, gift card, and general ledger reconciliations
  • Build strong working relationships with operational leaders to support clear communication and financial accuracy
Experience & Attributes for Success:
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting or a related field is a strong asset
  • Prior experience in hospitality or a multi-unit environment is an asset
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Experience with accounting systems such as Sage is an asset
  • Effective communicator with the ability to work collaboratively in a small, busy team
  • Naturally curious and analytical, with a problem-solving mindset
  • Proactive and self-directed, comfortable taking initiative and following through
  • Accountable and quality-driven, with a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement
