Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join our client’s growing finance team in St. John’s, NL. The successful candidate will play a key role in the organization’s payables function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and payments while maintaining strong internal controls and compliance standards.

This role is well suited for someone who is highly organized, accurate, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Process full accounts payable cycle, including invoice processing, coding, verification, and timely payment of vendor accounts
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts payable records and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, as well as provincial and federal financial regulations
  • Assist in the preparation and processing of payment runs (cheques, EFTs, etc.)
  • Support month-end closing activities related to accounts payable, including accruals and reconciliations
  • Monitor and maintain proper approval workflows and internal controls within the AP function
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers
  • Assist with audit requests by providing required AP documentation and reports
  • Contribute to process improvements within the accounts payable function to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Support other finance and administrative tasks as required
Experience & Attributes for Success:
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, business administration, or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience in an Accounts Payable or similar finance support role (2–3+ years preferred)
  • Experience with accounting or ERP systems considered an asset
  • High attention to detail with strong accuracy in data entry and financial processing
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills for vendor and internal stakeholder interactions
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on process improvement and efficiency
