Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our professional services firm client in St. John's, NL. If you have a passion for leadership and a proven track record in guiding accounting teams, this is an excellent permanent opportunity to shape and develop a growing group of talented professionals.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Lead and mentor a team of bookkeepers and junior accountants, providing direction and oversight on day-to-day tasks
  • Conduct first-level reviews of bookkeeping, journal entries, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and adherence to best practices
  • Manage and oversee the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Collaborate closely with senior management to ensure that all accounting functions align with company goals and objectives
  • Identify high-potential junior accountants and provide training and support to help them progress to mid-level roles, fostering their professional growth
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and financial regulations

Skills & Attributes for Success:

  • CPA designation will be considered a strong asset, but is not required
  • 4 - 5+ years’ full-cycle accounting experience, with at least 2 years’ of management/leadership experience
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and MS Office Suite (Excel)
  • Strong team focus with the desire and ability to train and develop junior staff
  • Superior leadership skills and desire to contribute to a cohesive team
  • Experience with month-end processes and ability to conduct detailed reviews of accounting tasks
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks effectively
