Job Description

Our client, a leading organization with operations in across the globe, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controller to join their accounting team based in Saint John, New Brunswick. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing divisional financial operations, leading a dedicated accounting team, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Oversee the preparation of period-end financial statements, management reports, and working paper files
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning
  • Prepare ad hoc financial reports as required to address specific business needs
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence
  • Provide leadership in maintaining accurate and timely financial reporting processes
  • Coordinate training and development initiatives to enhance team performance
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to optimize financial reporting and accounting practices
  • Lead projects aimed at enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting and finance team
  • Coordinate requests and requirements from external auditors for both interim and year-end audits
Experience & Attributes for Success:
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) is preferred
  • Post-secondary degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a management or leadership role within an accounting or finance team
  • Previous experience with large scale ERP implementation is a definite asset
  • Proven leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a team and collaborate across functions
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and efficiency
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to break down complex financial data and interpret it accurately 
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and  navigate evolving business needs
