Job Description:

The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for overseeing payroll processing and related accounting functions. This position requires strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of payroll compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
• Process weekly high-volume payroll for bargaining employees and bi-weekly payroll for non-bargaining employees.
• Verify and maintain onboarding documents for new hires, including W-4s, direct deposit forms, and I-9 documentation.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll discrepancies, employment verifications, and related questions.
• Prepare payroll-related reports and assist with audits and reconciliations.
• Support the accounting team with general administrative tasks and serve as a backup as needed.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.


Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in accounting, finance, or business preferred.
• Experience: 5+ years of payroll processing experience, including union payroll.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and payroll compliance.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word; experience with payroll systems strongly preferred.
• Abilities: Strong organizational and time management skills with a high degree of accuracy in data analysis.
• Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• Attributes: Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
