Job Description:

The Accountant will play a vital role in preparing, analyzing, and reporting financial data to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial operations. The role requires strong technical accounting expertise, effective communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining compliance with financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare quarterly financial packages, including financial data, performance indicators, variance analyses, and narratives for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with business units to review outstanding invoices, discuss operational concerns, and report progress to financial management.
• Develop customized schedules to monitor general ledger accounts for financial managers.
• Maintain effective internal controls to ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and organizational policies.
• Assist in the preparation of audit schedules, including footnotes and supplemental/statistical schedules.
• Prepare standard, non-routine, and one-time journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Review cost center reports monthly for accuracy and budget variance analyses.
• Oversee financial compliance of contracts with third parties and provide recommendations as needed.
• Participate in hiring, training, and evaluating staff as directed by management.
• Support month-end close meetings and resolve differences through collaboration with management and personnel.



Qualifications:

Education and Certifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (required).
• Master’s degree, CPA, CFE, or CMA designation (preferred).

Experience:
• Six (6) years of relevant accounting experience (preferred).
• ERP system experience and external audit experience (preferred).
• Experience in public transportation or governmental accounting (preferred).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), and Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Oracle EBS.
• Ability to prepare clear, concise reports and analyze complex data effectively.
• Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills to interact with internal teams, external stakeholders, and auditors.
• Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment and work independently under pressure.
