Job Description:
The Benefits Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration of all health and welfare benefit plans, as well as leave of absence programs. This role involves maintaining accurate benefits data, responding to employee inquiries, and acting as a liaison between employees, carriers, and third-party administrators. The position also plays a key role in ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory standards such as FMLA and ADA.
Key Responsibilities:
• Administer daily benefit activities, including eligibility verification, enrollment processing, changes, and terminations in accordance with plan documentation.
• Provide guidance and support to employees, HR team members, and external vendors on benefit-related questions and issues.
• Act as a liaison with insurance carriers and third-party administrators to resolve escalated employee issues efficiently and accurately.
• Monitor and track benefit-related trends and proactively recommend process improvements or policy adjustments.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for leave programs, including short- and long-term disability and FMLA.
• Coordinate communication between employees, supervisors, third-party leave administrator, and occupational health or medical teams to ensure timely and accurate handling of leave cases.
• Maintain accurate records of benefits and leave status in systems such as Kronos and PeopleSoft.
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards related to employee benefits and leaves of absence.
• Support ongoing benefits initiatives and open enrollment activities as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in benefits administration, human resources, payroll, or related field.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to effectively interact with employees at all organizational levels.
• Proficiency in written and verbal communication, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to manage tasks independently and meet deadlines.
Preferred:
• Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline.
• At least 1 year of direct experience in disability leave and FMLA administration.
• Familiarity with HR systems such as PeopleSoft and Kronos.
• Working knowledge of health and welfare benefits, FMLA, ADA, and related federal and state regulations.
