Job Description:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and assisting in budget preparation and financial reporting. This role involves working closely with finance team members and program directors to support the financial health of various community-focused initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Process bookkeeping transactions, including managing accounts payable and receivable.
• Reconcile bank, credit card, and investment accounts.
• Handle billing for client services and external funding sources.
• Ensure alignment of general ledger accounting practices with reporting, budgeting, and forecasting needs.
• Prepare reports for grant budgets and assist in financial compliance.
• Support payroll and benefits processing.
• Assist with month-end closing procedures and financial reporting.
• Work with program directors to develop annual program and grant proposal budgets.
• Assist in preparing the organization's annual operating budget in collaboration with financial leadership.
• Participate in the annual audit process, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
• Provide training to staff on budget development, fiscal accountability, and financial procedures.
• Maintain a positive and productive work environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support financial operations.
Qualifications:

Education:

• Experience with general ledger systems, nonprofit accounting practices, and financial reporting.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
• Strong Excel skills with the ability to generate and analyze complex financial reports.
• Knowledge of nonprofit auditing standards and relevant local, state, and federal financial regulations.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Capacity to navigate sensitive budgetary discussions with professionalism.
