Job Description:

The Grant Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of grant-funded programs and ensuring compliance with grant requirements. This role involves overseeing the budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting for grants, as well as coordinating with program managers and external auditors. The Grant Accountant will ensure that all grant-related financial activities are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Grant Financial Management:
o Prepare and manage budgets for grant-funded programs.
o Monitor and track grant expenditures to ensure they are in line with budgeted amounts.
o Review and approve grant-related financial transactions and documentation.

• Compliance and Reporting:
o Ensure compliance with all grant requirements and regulations.
o Prepare financial reports for grantors and management, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
o Coordinate with external auditors during grant audits, providing necessary documentation and information.

• Financial Analysis and Reconciliation:
o Perform regular reconciliations of grant accounts to ensure accuracy.
o Analyze financial data related to grants to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
o Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.

• Coordination and Collaboration:
o Work closely with program managers to ensure proper allocation and use of grant funds.
o Provide training and support to staff on grant financial management and compliance.
o Collaborate with the finance team to integrate grant accounting into overall financial processes.



Qualifications:

Required Experience and Skills:

• Education:
o Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Experience:
o Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, with at least 1 year focused on grant accounting or financial management for grant-funded programs.
o Experience in non-profit accounting is preferred.

• Skills:
o Strong understanding of accounting principles and grant regulations.
o Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
o Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
o Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
o Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
o Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
