Lead Subsea Engineer
Perth, WA | Contract | Long-term project
Zenith Energy is seeking an experienced Lead Subsea Engineer to join our team supporting the a major decommissioning project.
This is a senior technical leadership position responsible for driving the subsea engineering scope across well access, subsea tree removal, BOP systems, third-party equipment integration, casing and wellhead recovery, and offshore execution planning.
Reporting to the Well Superintendent, you will lead the subsea engineering team and work closely with the wider wells, commercial and project delivery functions to develop safe, practical and technically robust solutions for a complex offshore well abandonment campaign.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the subsea engineering team through planning, design, contracting and execution.
Driving the subsea elements of the well access methodology and completion recovery design.
Leading the technical specification, tendering and evaluation of critical subsea services and equipment.
Supporting the contracting and technical assessment of IRS, SSTT and landing-string systems.
Supporting MODU screening and selection, including riser analysis, vessel motions, wellhead fatigue and third-party equipment integration.
Planning subsea tree preparation, removal and recovery activities.
Supporting system integration testing, legacy interface equipment preparation and offshore readiness.
Providing technical assurance of engineering programs, studies and key project decisions.
Supporting cost and schedule development for subsea abandonment activities.
Working collaboratively with the Client technical team and the broader project organisation.
About you
You will bring:
At least 15 years experience in relevant subsea engineering roles.
Previous technical leadership experience within an operator or major project environment.
A proven record delivering subsea drilling, intervention or abandonment campaigns from design through execution.
Strong experience with subsea trees, well access systems, BOP interfaces, IRS, SSTT and landing strings.
Experience supporting operations from a dynamically positioned semi-submersible MODU.
Strong knowledge of subsea contracting, tender evaluation and supplier management.
An understanding of wellhead fatigue, riser analysis and fatigue-management technologies.
Familiarity with Australian offshore regulatory requirements and working under NOPSEMA.
Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving capabilities.
