As the Underwriter QA Review Sr. Specialist,  you will serve as the lead for the team, allocating work and providing guidance to team members. Although you will act as a lead, coordinating the work of others, you are not a supervisor with any formal people management responsibilities. Although you will work within established procedures, you will be expected to drive continuous improvement activities and evidence problem solving skills to identify root cause challenges and create plans to address with support of the management team. Your goal is to ensure that requests are processed timely, accurately, and completely to ensure a positive customer experience and to mitigate risk. You will be expected to encourage collaboration with colleagues and other teams to achieve these objectives, acting as an example for other team members to follow.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Primary focus is on execution within defined processing parameters with some expansion based on developing capabilities and or experiences. QA/QC tasks are expected to be completed timely, accurately with focus on attention to detail. Ensure procedures and SOPs are adhered to when performing your work, as measured through quality checks by management/team leader.
  • Exceed customer expectations, by doing the right thing, and working together. Respond to internal/external customer inquiries within 24 hours. Escalate issues to management within 24 hours or raise at daily huddles. Suggest customer experience improvement opportunities as you identify them. Demonstrate ability and willingness to drive these to completion.
  • Thoroughly understand and comply with regulatory requirements that impact your work including state and federal laws.
  • Understand the importance of risk management and how it impacts your daily responsibilities. Be willing and able to explain all aspects of risk to other members of your team and support their learning and development.
  • Complete required Regulatory and HR compliance training each quarter by established deadlines.
  • Escalate risk issues to management immediately.
  • Perform your daily responsibilities leading by example and demonstrate attributes expected of an emerging leader. Display a professional and positive attitude at all times with all of your interactions, as measured by customer/stakeholder feedback and manager observations.
  • Work toward your PDP goals throughout the year and present evidence of progress to your manager.
  • To ensure Citizens Private Bank loans are in compliance with all applicable policy, guidelines and regulations.   

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years underwriting experience with in-depth knowledge of manual underwriting guidelines.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of complex underwriting of high/ultra high net worth borrowers to include analysis of multiple businesses, large real estate portfolios and diverse asset portfolios.
  • Sound knowledge of the consumer mortgage lending process and workflow through post-closing.
  • Sound knowledge of secondary & private investor loan programs.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with solid organizational, interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • PC skills including proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and database applications.
  • Must be detailed oriented and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage change and take on new tasks as required.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision.
  • Must be production oriented to meet department productivity goals and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high-level degree of confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of ACES, Epic or Empower a plus.

Education:

  • High School Graduate/GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Hours & Work Schedule: Hybrid – 3 days in the office, 2 working from home

  • Hours per Week:  40
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM
