The Operational Database Platform team builds and maintains scalable, reliable, and secure software solutions powering our Operational Database Platform. We handle massive data volumes, ensuring high performance, redundancy, and security.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oracle RDS Database Operator to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing our Oracle RDS database environments.
What you’ll do:
This contractor role requires a high level of expertise in Oracle RDS database operations and the ability to handle a wide range of database operations and maintenance tasks.
Storage Management: Manage tablespaces, conduct database purging and handle RDS storage increases.
Deployment: Execute deployments and schema migrations maintaining detailed records of all database activities, changes, and configurations.
Performance: Optimize performance through session management, query flushing, and statistics gathering. Review database queries for better performance and efficiency.
Maintenance and Monitoring: Perform new DB builds, configure monitoring agents, and manage alerts.
High Availability and Patching: Execute data warehouse switchovers, perform OEM, server, and database patching.
Support and Capacity Planning: Create and manage AWS and Oracle support cases, participate in capacity reviews.
User Access Management: Create users, reset password and process terminated users.
Audit Support: Assisting in audit processes by providing necessary data and documentation.
On-call Support: Participate in an on-call rotation to address urgent issues, ensuring minimal disruption to the platform.
What you ll need:
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 5 years of Oracle database operator experience.
Extensive experience with Oracle RDS and AWS environments
Strong SQL knowledge
Strong knowledge of Oracle database operations, including user management, storage configuration, and performance tuning
Experience with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Splunk and OpsGenie
Experience with configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet for managing infrastructure and deployments.
Experience with version Control & CI/CD tools such as Git, ArgoCD and GitLab.
Experience with database patching and upgrade processes
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
Nice to have:
Oracle certifications preferred
AWS RDS certifications preferred
SQL certifications preferred
