Position Overview
A leading manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced and motivated Production Supervisor to support 1st or 2nd shift operations within their fast-paced facility in Battle Creek, MI. These leaders will be responsible for driving safety, quality, productivity, and team performance while helping create a positive and accountable culture on the production floor.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who can make decisions confidently, lead by example, and help develop production teams in a high-volume manufacturing setting. Candidates should be comfortable managing change, solving problems quickly, and balancing operational goals with employee engagement and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support production team members in daily manufacturing operations.
- Lead approximately 2550 employees alongside another shift supervisor to ensure production goals are met safely and efficiently.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture through accountability, coaching, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Provide training, development, and performance feedback to team members while helping foster teamwork and morale.
- Monitor and drive key performance metrics related to safety, quality, productivity, cost, and delivery.
- Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis to support continuous improvement efforts.
- Coordinate staffing and labor allocation to support operational demands and minimize inefficiencies.
- Maintain shift communication, production reporting, payroll/timekeeping documentation, and operational handoff between shifts.
- Support Lean manufacturing initiatives, process improvements, and housekeeping standards throughout the facility.
- Collaborate with Operations and Plant leadership to identify opportunities for improved production flow and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing, production, operations, warehouse, or fast-paced industrial environment.
- Experience leading larger hourly teams in a high-volume production setting (2550+ employees preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, handle disciplinary conversations, and hold employees accountable.
- Strong safety mindset with experience enforcing policies and maintaining accountability on the floor.
- Ability to troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Comfortable in a hands-on leadership role with significant production floor presence.
- Ability to make decisions quickly and confidently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient computer skills for production reporting and employee documentation.
- Comfort working extended hours as needed to support operational demands.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in automotive manufacturing, particularly with headliners, trim, or molded interior components.
- Experience with compression forming or thermoforming equipment.
- Exposure to Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or Six Sigma concepts (Green Belt or Black Belt preferred).
- Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing, Operations, Business Management, or a related field.
