Assembly Team Leader | 3rd Shift
Location: Bowling Green, KY


Position Overview
A leading high-volume manufacturing organization is seeking an Assembly Team Leader to direct and support assembly team members safely and efficiently. This role is responsible for driving team safety, maintaining quality integrity, leading daily tier meetings, and ensuring production goals are achieved. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader dedicated to continuous improvement, standardized work practices, and fostering positive employee relations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, direct, and support Assembly Team Members safely while promoting an environment where zero injuries is the expected standard.
  • Lead daily Tier 1 pre-shift meetings, participate in Tier 2 communication, and conduct weekly safety talks.
  • Maintain quality standards by utilizing Andon procedures, tracking downtime in MES, and participating in root cause problem-solving.
  • Perform basic routine maintenance to ensure efficiency of weld robots, including changing weld tips, wire spools, and cleaning nozzles.
  • Complete daily pre-shift inspections, 5S audits, and Layered Process Audits (LPAs) for designated areas.
  • Coordinate and assign daily job responsibilities for team members and fill in for line operators when necessary.
  • Train team members using Job Instruction/TWI methodology based on Job Element Sheets, updating training matrices and checklists.
  • Support accident/incident investigations within 24 hours to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Arrive prior to shift start for complete handoffs and remain post-shift as required to fulfill leadership responsibilities.


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain Weld Certification and Forklift Certification.
  • Ability to stand and move about on concrete for 8–12 hours per day.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and maneuver assembly parts up to 50 pounds on occasion.
  • Ability to meet respiratory PPE requirements, including completing a pulmonary health assessment questionnaire.
  • Strong commitment to safety, reliable attendance, and flexible shift availability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and DOL compliance guidelines.
  • Post-secondary education or technical training.
  • Familiarity with 5S, TWI (Training Within Industry), Lean Manufacturing, and MES tracking.
