Director of Sales
Location: Sturgis, MI
Position Overview
A high-volume manufacturing organization in Sturgis, MI is seeking a hands-on Director of Sales to drive revenue growth and manage key client relationships. This role offers an ideal blend of strategic sales execution and long-term leadership potential, serving as an active individual contributor while preparing to transition into broader sales leadership over time.
The ideal candidate brings a proven background in custom manufacturing sales, excels at solving customer problems through engineered solutions, and thrives in an autonomous, flexible, and family-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Split focus between hunting for new business opportunities (50%) and managing/growing existing customer relationships (50%).
- Partner directly with internal engineering and manufacturing teams to deliver customized, solution-based manufacturing options to client problems.
- Build, maintain, and expand relationships with key clients, primarily across local and regional market sectors.
- Learn technical product lines, equipment capabilities, and operational strengths to consultatively position solutions to commercial buyers.
- Manage personal sales targets and revenue responsibilities exceeding $3M$5M+ annually.
- Collaborate with internal customer support and outside sales resources to ensure smooth project delivery and account expansion.
- Gradually assume broader sales strategy and leadership duties as part of a long-term succession plan.
Required Qualifications
- Proven track record in B2B manufacturing sales.
- Demonstrated success in consultative sales of customized, engineered solutions rather than off-the-shelf products.
- Proven ability to independently drive new business development as well as grow existing accounts.
- History of successfully managing revenue responsibilities of $3M$5M+ annually.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the plastics manufacturing industry, including injection molding or resin sales.
- Experience selling into automotive or Tier 1/Tier 2 customer networks.
- Background in commercial procurement, purchasing, or technical sourcing with direct client-facing exposure.
- Previous experience or strong interest in stepping into higher-level executive sales leadership over time.
