Position Overview
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a hands-on, player/coach Team Leader to manage daily production activities and foster a positive, high-performing team environment. In this role, you will lead daily shift operations, communicate goals, coach team members, and ensure safety, quality, and delivery standards are met. This is a dynamic role ideal for a collaborative leader who enjoys working alongside their team while ensuring production processes run smoothly and efficiently.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and coach production team members, providing daily encouragement, addressing questions, and assisting with training.
  • Conduct daily start-of-shift stand-up meetings to communicate goals, safety guidelines, and production needs.
  • Work closely with Shift Management to plan and execute daily operations across quality, packaging, and secondary operations.
  • Serve as a player/coach by working production lines, operating assembly and automated equipment, loading/unloading presses, and packing products.
  • Maintain high 5S standards, cover operator breaks, and perform layered process, standardized work, and 5S audits.
  • Monitor inventory, part/machine status, and production reporting in the ERP system (Plex).
  • Perform SPC/SQC quality checks, first-piece sign-offs, and CDB product inspections to ensure customer quality standards.
  • Provide smooth, detailed shift hand-offs to counterparts on oncoming shifts.
  • Act as back-up to the Shift Manager, capable of running shift operations, updating schedules, and managing daily metric reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Ability to work in a player/coach capacity on the plant floor.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and operate manual/material handling equipment like pallet jacks.
  • Willingness to float across departments and assist team members on short notice.
